I just picked up a 73 GT 433 in great condition but has been sitting for awhile and I want to clean the tank.

Any helpful hints on getting the roll pin out of the steering?  I've read Gene talk about the steering being made in "two pieces" and wonder what that means?

Any help is appreciated.  I will get some pics too when we get it all clean up.

I pulled the steering apart on my Smith Roles to replace the tank. I don't remember it being any fun at all. It was quite a while ago but I used a whole lot of WD-40.

The two-piece steering column is quite the story. But, to be honest we had no choice. Once it was assembled properly it was never intended to be taken apart.
Use Liquid Wrench would be my suggestion. AND good luck.

the roll pin at the bottom is a brute to get out sometimes.  Its going to take some force and foul language

Good luck
