Original/Restored
Your name (at least first name)
Location (at least province or state/country)

History/Number if Raced

The S/N is stamped into the tunnel on the right side, where your right knee would be.
This one is 34165 - a F/A that I found with a 440 "SS" engine

Mine is a 1973
SN 31627, sticker on right back of tunnel says produced SEPT '72
ridden/fix when broke
Shawn
Mpls, MN
1973
Runs great- time for cosmetic repairs. It was rolled hard in '73 (very big hill).  Dad was scared of its speed after that.

This is a cool idea. I'll throw my Wild One in the mix. Serial number is 34144. Maybe we can figure out how many are surviving! To the best of my knowledge and research my chassis came as a true free air sled.

Hey Wade !!... that serial number that is on Mr. Plow's chassis.... ? A very poor stamping.
Were you building another bomb when this one slipped through ? .... or what ?
Gene.

The problem with the whole thing is that number on the tunnel, and the number on the sticker are different. The correct serial number was on the sticker, and not related to the number on the tunnel at all. So now what???

Hello Gone.
Ted , I can't rember his last name used to be responsable for the serial numbers. When he wasen't out having coffee, or betting on the "ponies'.
I do have another story about my attempt to launch the incenerator.
Working the hours we did, sometimes at 2 or 3  in the morning I think we all tended to drift into strange doings.

There is supposed to be a S/N sticker?

Did you buy that at the Brandon Show?  If that is the same one it does not have the correct motor in it. He put in a trail twister motor so you have an incorrect Cat hex clutch and electronic ignition.

yeah,i bought it at brdn. show..it has a hood with 1 little vent by the headlite,,,it should have a K3402AS,,,,340 kohler fan cooled,,,,same motor as a 76 340 trail twister..i have 2 of them,i took it for my first ride today,,its very smooth ride and handles nice.lots of power with the 440 in it.I might take it in roblin derby feb.20.Did the free air machines have cdi or points??I have a 340 kolher free air starburst heads, with no cdi,,it must have points inside..Do you know what the factory gearing was for f/a or f/c 74 wildone???

Hey guys, newbie here with my new find. I picked this up today in the village of Clifford, Ontario. It is a 340 F/B with 901 miles on it. Has been sitting since 1978 and it is only the second 1974 Wild One I've seen in Ontario though I've only been attending shows for about 10 yrs. Serial number is 34112. You can read the story in the Welcome section. I'm sure I'll need plenty of help to get this sled presentable, starting with finding a skid and doing something with the seat.

Nice sleds- I like it because the hood doesn't have vents cut in like so many of the fan Wild-Ones do

I went out and looked for the serial number on my wildone.  It is a very poor stamping.  From what I see the number is 34130.  I can definately make out the first two numbers, but on the last two digits I am only guessing because the top part of the numbers are stamped but there is no bottom to the numbers. I have owned the sled 3-4 years and I bought it close to home, out by Utica New York from a friend.  I do not know where it came from prior to that or know of any history of it.  It appears to be mostly original although the motor is a large base kohler.  I have a correct small base set up for it.  Maybe somebody on the forum would have some info on the sled.  Let me know what you think.  Thanks, Nate  Give me a call at 518-251-3754 if you want to chat about mine or yours.

Did fan cooled have CDI ??
I have a 340 starburst head motor with point system(no CDI)
that I might sell if someone needs one........

Found another Wild One! When new, it was sent to Tom Earhart to modify the Kohler and Tom hand built the pipes. It was raced for one season in 1974 then parked until I picked it up. It came with the larger carbs, as raced, and the original carbs, muffler and a few parts. I picked up the new heads at the swap at the Nationals in Midland MI. and the Wild One from just minutes outside of Midland. It's in pretty nice with 151 miles showing on the speedo.

Found another Wild One. Not far from my home and intend to restore.

Was one of the members of this site at one time and I am happy to own this one. Decals are a little different from what I'm used to... but I like them.  Incredible documentation came with the sled. This is a keeper for me.

It is the 4th sled made after the other one I have now.

Hello. New to the site, first reply. I have a 74 wildone with a serial # 34078. the paper tag and the stamped # match. I had it for about 17 years all original. It was my fathers and he was a dealer from 1969 or 1970 up till the end. speedo shows 332 miles. It has a few dings and bruies but after going throught the carbs, finding the correct belt and a lot of soap and water looks and runs great. A met a person at a local meet that also has one, after a lot of talking we become good friends and suggested I start bring to shows. I"ll try to post a pictures of it. The fan is mine and the freeair was restored by my friend. the pic was taken at Wicona MN 2017.
